Lions win Platinum Nationals
Tuesday, 17 August 2010

Manchester were guaranteed a trophy when the Lions met the Greensox in the Platinum Nationals Final at Bristol last weekend, and the Lions completed a remarkable treble of Silver in 08, Gold in 09 and Platinum in 2010, beating the Sox 5-3 in the final.

The Platinum Nationals are the highest level that league teams can compete at in the UK and the League is justly proud of its triple champions.

Aardvarx snatch title
Wednesday, 11 August 2010

With a comfortable win over the tired-looking Drizzle, Aardvarx returned to the "clubhouse" to find that the Enforcers had managed the slightly unexpected win over the Storm to hand them the Division 3 title. WHile STorm will be disappointed to have missed the title by one game, they will be consoled by the thought of promotion, already guaranteed last week; and most Div 3 regulars were in agreement that Aardvarx had been the most consistent team over the season, and deserved their title.

Divison 3 teams will now play a three-week cup competition, extending their season to August 31st. In the draw made last night, the new champions face the Hurricanes. The fast improving Meerkats play Camels II. The tie that most caught the attention is the Club Thunder derby between Storm and Drizzle, while the Enforcers play the Space Cadets.

Runners docked 1 point
Wednesday, 04 August 2010

In their game on July 21st,  the Runners beat the Dragons 14-13, but submitted a team sheet with only eight names on it, and the result was therefore recorded as a forfeit in favour of the Dragons, since teams must field a minimum of nine players. The Runners subsequently appealed against this ruling, claiming that they had fielded a legal team, but the team sheet was a clerical error.

After due investigation, the Exec committee accepts that this was a clerical error and that they did indeed field a team of nine players. We therefore confirm the result, and return their £25 appeal fee. However since this is not the first paperwork mix-up involving the Runners, we withhold the 1 point which, under MSL rule 3.1 is awarded “as long as a legal side is fielded, the match fee is paid, and the post-match paperwork submitted”.
